Since summer 2008 the motorboat Aetos connects the port of Makrigialos to the small archipelago of Koufonissi, formed by four desert islands borded by beaches of fine sand and by a sea by the unforgettable crystal colours.

The Aetos (Greek translation of the word "Hawk") is a comfortable motorboat equipped with modern and complete safety equipment, driven by two engines of 400 HP each, has 3 cabins with 8 beds, three toilets and can accommodate up to a maximum of 35 passengers.
The departure for Koufonissi is from central pier in Makrigialos at 10 am with return at 17 hours in the afternoon; the navigation time is about an hour each way.
The frequency is not daily and is directly linked to the number of passengers who request it, if the number of applicants is insufficient the Aetos will not depart; more details and the phone number for reservations may be requested by sending an e-mail to the address andrea18@otenet.gr.
For the only area of Xerocampos, the ticket reservations can be made directly on the spot with the owners of the properties in the webpage " Holiday apartments " or at the "Tavern Akrogiali" and at the "Bar Dolphin".
The price of a ticket is 30 euros, children under 10 years of age receive a discount of 50% and infants up to 3 years travel free.
With an additional 8 euros per person you can also have lunch on the island (beverages included).
The payment of the ticket and any supplement for lunch has to be made at the pier when boarding in cash, credit cards are not accepted and an identity document is requested.
The conduct of the trip to Koufonissi depends directly on the authorizations of the Coastal Guard of Ierapetra who is competent authority for granting navigation permits according to weather and sea conditions for this reason, if the sea conditions are unsuitable, the departure may be deleted with notice of one hour and a half. |
