Koufonissi , (the picture above has been taken after the suggestive snowfall of February 2004) is composed of three uninhabited island of unforgettable beauty. Framed by beaches of fine sand or stone (one in particular with mainly green stones and is really beautiful) and cliffs punctuated by sea caves, is reflected is a sea whose transparency and range of colours is difficult to see in the Mediterranean sea. Known since ancient times as stage of the purple pigment trade has the ruins of a Roman Port and also of an amphitheatre (always of the roman age); only other human craft is the inevitable and traditional small Greek Orthodox church. The sea bottom of Koufonissi are beautiful and also rich of ancient ship wrecks due to amount of rocks emerging also far from the coast (useless to remind that is forbidden to take amphora or archaeological rests of any type, the law is very strict). In order to visit such a paradise there are three different possibilities, please click on the image for further information........................... |
