Kìssamos-Kastèli is a coastal town located in the extreme northwest of the island of Crete, in the province of Chanià, and placed in a hilly and mountainous area overlooking the homonymous bay, protected from the Meltemi summer winds on the west from the Kòrikos Peninsula and on the east from the one of Rodopòs.
Thanks to its geographical position Kìssamos-Kastèli is not just a natural and mandatory crossroads to visit the west coast of Crete (all the roads depart from here) but is also an obligatory point of passage if you want to reach the Greek mainland avoiding the long journey to Piraeus and Athens because from its small harbor named Trahilos, twice a week, departs the ferry to the island of Kìthira and Gìthio, town located south of the Peloponnese. |
